DEF LEPPARD’S “ROCK ON” KEEPS ROLLING:
June 14, 2006
Def Leppard is back with a bang. Their new single “Rock On” has been the No. 1 song on American classic rock stations for four consecutive weeks. Fans can help keep Def Lep atop the charts by calling their local radio stations and requesting “Rock On.”
The song, originally recorded by David Essex in 1973, is the first single from Def Leppard’s new album of glam-rock era covers, YEAH!, but brings in the signature Def Leppard hard-rock edge to give it a fresh new life.
And according to Mediabase, an industry airplay chart of all monitored stations, “Rock On” has risen above serious competition to annex the top spot for a month.
Adding to the popularity of the track is the “Rock On” video, which debuted on vh1.com and DefLeppard.com to rave reviews. Filmed in the California desert by legendary video director Nigel Dick, it depicts a post-apocalyptic world where Def Leppard might be the only rock ‘n’ roll band left.
