July 11, 2006

July sees VH1 UK return to its roots with a series of concerts, documentaries & it first annual honours show paying homage to all things rock. We thought you would be interested to know of the following dates…

VH1 UK is available on SKY Digital as well as NTL & Telewest Cable.

VH1 is celebrating four of metal’s most imaginative groups. Our Rock Honors show puts Def Leppard, Judas Priest, KISS, and Queen in the spotlight for the evening, revealing how each band came up with its unique sound, and measuring the influence each has had on modern music. Godsmack, Foo Fighters, and the All-American Rejects help us praise our heroes and turn the place upside down.

Heavy: The Story of Metal
Metal is rock’s untamed wild child. Metal is rude, crude, irreverent and irrepressibly loud. Metal is rock and roll just as it’s supposed to be, which is why everyone from Black Sabbath to Iron Maiden to Motley Crue to Slayer to Slipknot, have been hated by critics, feared by parents, attacked by politicians, and blamed for most of the world’s ills. So how did a combination of the devil and decibels become such an irresistible lure to generations of metal fans around the world? In this 4 part series, Heavy: The Story of Metal, we trace the evolution of heavy metal music and culture, from its dark, grim beginnings in Birmingham to the worldwide force that it remains to this day. Exploring four decades of music, each hour examining this powerful and often misunderstood genre, from metal’s pioneers to its love of glam and excess; from the fight for metal’s rebellious soul to its storied flirtation with the devil.

Supergroup
Five seasoned Rock Stars descend on Las Vegas to form a band and save Rock and Roll. The catch? None of them know who their band mates are ahead of time. Motor City Madman Ted Nugent, Former Skid Row frontman Sebastian Bach and Anthrax’s Scott Ian team up with drummer (Led Zeppelin heir) Jason Bonham and Biohazard’s Evan Seinfeld to live together, form a band, write new music and perform a concert in just 12 days. Legendary Rock Manager Doc McGhee is enlisted to keep these legendary Rock egos in check, and keep the mission on track. Together, in a city of sin, they struggle to navigate the drinking, fighting, lap dances and somehow find the time to write, rehearse, and put on a show worthy of their formidable rock legacies. Five Rock Stars. 12 Days. No Excuses. This is Supergroup.
