The Chicago Tribune reports that Ozzy Osbourne’s OzzFest tour carries the blemish of a rape after a 20-year-old rock fan was sexually assaulted in a venue parking lot.

The unnamed fan was attacked outside Tinley Park, in Chicago, Illinois on Sunday, July 16th. The attack at the OzzFest concert was the third this year in Tinley Park. Police said they did not believe the offender in the most recent assault was involved in the other attacks.

The 20-year-old local fan was approached by a shirtless man, who assaulted her after dragging her to a remote grassy area of the parking lot, according to local police.

Tinley Park Police Commander Phil Valois confirms, “According to the victim, the man initially engaged her in a friendly conversation in the parking lot. She said she had no reason to be scared of him. But then, without warning, he grabbed her, dragged her to a secluded grassy area west of the amphitheater and sexually assaulted her.”

The attacker is described as a white male, muscular, 5-foot-9, about 30 years old and with short brown hair. “She said the man may have had pierced nipples,” Valois said. There were no eye witnesses. Police are still searching for the suspect.

There has been no public comment from Ozzy Osbourne or his spokespersons about the Chicago attack. It has not been suggested that security/safety measures must be heightened for any part of the tour and appears to be an isolated incident.

The first concert tour stop in our area, Saturday July 15, 2006 at UMB Bank Pavilion in Maryland Heights, was a sold out show with no incidents and reports nothing other than happy fans who got to see the former Black Sabbath frontman and those disappointed who couldn’t get tickets.

OzzFest makes its second annual pilgrimage here in two weeks at the Verizon Wireless Ampitheatre in Virginia Beach, Saturday August 5, 2006 and Nissan Pavilion Sunday August 6, 2006.
