THREE WHITESNAKE ALBUMS GETTING REISSUED WITH BONUS TRACKS:
January 23, 2007
The next three Whitesnake remasters have finally been scheduled for March 12 release in the UK. All pre-orders with DPAS Mailorder will go on that date. There are three titles. “Come An’ Get It” from 1981 with Lord and Paice; “Live In The Heart Of The City”, which comprises material from two London show in 1978 and 1980 (the former was before Paice joined); and the “Saints An’ Sinners” album, recorded during the break up of the group in 1982, and the final album to include Bernie Marsden and Ian Paice. As before all three have bonus tracks.
The bonus material for the next three Whitesnake remasters has been announced, and include mostly monitor mixes and early vocal takes from Bernie Marsden’s large tape archive. Saints & Sinners Young Blood (Monitor Mix/Early Vocal) Saints And Sinners (Monitor Mix/ Early Vocal) Soul Survivor (Unfinished, Unreleased Song) Come An Get It Child Of Babylon (Alternate Rough Mix) Girl (Alternate Version/Rough Mix) Come An’ Get It (Rough Mix) Lonely Days Lonely Nights (Alternate Version/Rough Mix) Till The Day I Die (Rough Mix) Hit An’ Run (Backing Track) Sadly Live Heart Of The City has been left as per the UK vinyl, with no attempt to restore the two full shows. The 1980 version of Ain’t No Love In The Heart Of The City which was issued as a single a-side has been added and that’s your lot. As this has been on CD collections already (The Early Years in 2004), most fans will already have it.
In other Deep Purple news, Ian Gillan’s 40th anniversary (that’s 40 years as a professional musician…), DVD has been through a number of changes over the last twelve months. First an internet only edition, then only available via IG’s web site, etc. but now appears to have settled down as a 2xDVD edition on a major label, available Europe wide (and through DPAS Mailorder). Titled Highway Stars – 40 Years In Rock, and scheduled for March / April, DVD 1 is a major interview with IG full of clips (lasting two and a half hours!). DVD 2 has a number of shorter features such as GillanCam, Russian Tour Report, At Home With etc.
