OZZY OSBOURNE “DOESN’T UNDERSTAND” IRAQ WAR:
June 4, 2007
Rocker Ozzy Osbourne has vowed never to become a placard-toting protestor over the War in Iraq – because he doesn’t understand it. The Black Sabbath star has ruled out any appearances as an activist at London’s Hyde Park, but laments the futility of war.
He says, “It’s more that I don’t understand the war. If you’re on one side, and I’m on the other, and you get killed and I get killed, we’ve both lost. I’d have thought people would have learned, humanity would’ve learned. But I’m not turning into one of those f—ers, green people you know, going around Hyde Park, saying, ‘Stop the War’. That’s not me.”
But Osbourne does admit his feelings towards global issues play a big part in his songwriting – especially military conflict. He explains, “If something affects me, it comes out in my work. I can’t write boy meets girl, y’know, ‘Sharon I miss you’, all that. I can’t write, ‘Ho ho, what a lovely day’ when all those soldiers have been wounded.”
