Warrant Remastered: Cherry Pie / Dirty Rotten Filthy Stinking Rich (Sony/Legacy)
It’s springtime in North America and that can mean only one thing:Time for Warrant remastered. Originally remastered for 2002, it tooktwo years of tinkering before these two career making albums surfaced.
Cherry Pie and Dirty Rotten Filthy Stinking Rich defined Warrant andstill define the band to this day. The fact that the band can stilltour in 2004 has nothing to do with later efforts like Ultraphobic andDog Eat Dog. (Dog Eat Dog being a Gold record and hard core fanfavorite.) With an over-the-top sound, attitude and look the albumsspawned all of Warrant’s hits, including “Cherry Pie,” “Down Boys,””Sometimes She Cries,” “I Saw Red,” “Uncle Tom’s Cabin” and “Heaven.”
Two bonus tracks are tacked on to each as added incentive. The demos”Only A Man” and “All Night Long” round out Dirty Rotten FilthyStinking Rich, while Cherry Pie is padded with “The Power” (from theGladiator soundtrack) and “Game Of War” (demo). The additions are anice touch to both albums and don’t distract from the originalbrilliance.
