VELVET REVOLVER SETS MAY 13 START FOR FIRST TOUR:
April 15, 2004
NEW YORK (Billboard) – Rock supergroup Velvet Revolver, which includes three former members of Guns N’ Roses, will kick off its first North American tour May 13 in St. Louis, now that troubled frontman Scott Weiland has been cleared to hit the road.
The former Stone Temple Pilots singer has spent the past several months in a court-ordered drug rehabilitation center after pleading no contest last year to heroin possession.
The 15-date trek will run through a June 8-9 stand at Los Angeles’ Wiltern Theater. Velvet Revolver’s debut album, “Contraband,” is due June 8 from RCA. The video for first single “Slither” premieres April 27 on MTV2.
Velvet Revolver’s lone show to date took place last June at Los Angeles’ El Rey Theater. In addition to Weiland, the group includes GN’R alumni guitarist Slash, bass player Duff McKagan and drummer Matt Sorum, as well as former Suicidal Tendencies guitarist Dave Kushner.
