WE WILL ROCK YOU ROCKS VEGAS:

September 10, 2004

Queen’s theatre production We Will Rock You made its American debut in Las Vegas this week.

The audience featured a star studded collection of classic rockers including Meatloaf, Steve Vai, Kevin DuBrow (Quiet Riot), Nuno Bettencourt (Extreme), Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers), Glenn Hughes (Deep Purple), Steve Lukather (Toto), Simon Phillips (Toto) and Eric Singer (KISS).

We Will Rock You premiered in London in May 2002 and his since played in Australia, Spain with Russian and German seasons on the way soon.

The plot is set at a time when all musical instruments have been banned. The world has been overrun by manufactured Boy Bands and Girl Groups and hit songs are scheduled in advance. But a resistance is on the way. The Bohemians are about to save the planet.

As you can tell, it is a thin plot structured around the music of Queen.

The play was written by comic Ben Elton who uses the Queen lyrics to weave together the storyline

Actor Robert DiNiro was the main backer for the production and attended the premiere in Las Vegas this week along with Elton, and Queen’s Brian May and Roger Taylor.
