Nikki Sixx states was heroin addict for one year before having kind of spiritual awakening

Mötley Crüe and Sixx:A.M. bassist Nikki Sixx was recently interviewed by The Doctors and spoke about his past heroin addiction, which led to write his critically acclaimed The Heroin Diaries book and which is being re-released on its 10th year anniversary.

Sixx stated to The Doctors:

“When you have people heading towards that addiction, a lot of people don’t want to stop the money train,” he says, referring to how there are at times enablers in the industry… I’m really happy to be a survivor of heroin addiction and alcoholism and be a father and be here today and talk to you guys…’

“I was a heroin addict for exactly one year. And my heart stopped for 2 minutes and I came back and went home and shot up again and overdosed again. And I woke up the next day and I kind of had a spiritual awakening — that’s the only way I can explain it. I woke up and it was the first time I didn’t want to do drugs,” he says of the moment he decided to turn his life around.”
