OSBOURNES LEAVE NEW ZEALAND BUT HOPE TO BE BACK:
March 28, 2008
Heavy metal rocker Ozzy Osbourne and his wife Sharon flew out of Auckland yesterday, saying their holiday in the tourist resort of Queenstown was a “little bit of heaven”.
The pair have been in the country after Ozzy Osbourne played at the Rock2WGTN gig during Easter weekend with other heavy metal acts that included Lordi, Kiss, Poison and Alice Cooper.
Osbourne is the lead vocalist of the English heavy metal band Black Sabbath but found a new generation of fans with the reality television show The Osbournes.
Sharon Osbourne is a television presenter in Britain and was instrumental in reviving her husband’s rock career.
For the past week the flamboyant couple have been holidaying in Queenstown, where tourists and locals saw them out shopping and taking in the sights.
A burly American minder tried to keep the couple from NZPA at Auckland airport but the Osbournes were both happy to answer questions, with fans calling out “hi Ozzy!” as they walked by.
The couple said they had loved their stay in New Zealand and hoped to return.
When asked what the highlight of his visit was Ozzy seemed perplexed, and replied “That’s a good question.”
Sharon Osbourne said their visit to Queenstown had been a “little bit of heaven” for the couple.
