Osbourne’s Mom Released From Hospital

Sharon Osbourne, wife of British heavy metal icon Ozzy Osbourne and co-star of the MTV reality series “The Osbournes,” has been released after undergoing surgery for colon cancer.

Osbourne, 50, who manages her husband’s career, was “in good spirits and doing well,” family spokeswoman Lisa Vega said Tuesday. The surgery took place last week at an undisclosed Los Angeles-area hospital.

The disease was in its early stages, Vega said, and doctors expect a full recovery. She did not say when Osbourne was released.

Because of the surgery, the first two dates of Ozzy Osbourne’s summer music tour – in Bristol, Va., and Pittsburgh – were postponed. With his wife out of the hospital, Osbourne planned to resume the Ozzfest 2002 tour Wednesday night in Scranton, Pa., Vega said.

“The Osbournes,” the highest-rated program in MTV’s history, chronicles the unorthodox home life of Ozzy, Sharon and two of their three children – 17-year-old daughter Kelly and 16-year-old son Jack.

A second season of “The Osbournes” is scheduled to begin airing in the fall. It will consist of 20 episodes, twice as many as the first season.
