OUTLAWS TO FORGE AHEAD IN 2008WITH TOUR DATES BEGINNING FEBRUARY 22nd
ORIGINAL OUTLAWS HENRY PAUL AND MONTE YOHOANNOUNCE NEW LINE-UP FOR THE LEGENDARY SOUTHERN BAND
In a move that will surely please devout Outlaws fans, original founding members Henry Paul and Monte Yoho have announced that they will continue after the unfortunate passing of band mate Hughie Thomasson in September of 2007.
“The Outlaws story is one of five young men with a dream,” says Yoho. “Our story has chapters of triumph and tragedy but, through it all, there remains a sense of pride and accomplishment. The loss of Billy Jones (lead guitarist/vocalist) and Frank O’Keefe (bass guitarist) in ’95, and most recently Hughie, is impossible to replace.”
Paul (vocals/electric and acoustic guitar) and Yoho (drums) have corralled two new stellar players into the fold that includes lead guitarist Billy Crain (ex-Henry Paul Band/songwriter for the Dixie Chicks and Poco among others) and keyboardist Jon Coleman (ex-Lee Roy Parnell/Brothers of the Southland).
The band is rounded out by guitarist Chris Anderson, who’s been an integral part of the Outlaws family off-and-on for over two decades and bassist Randy Threet, who has called the Outlaws “home” for the past few years.
In 2005, the Outlaws reconvened for a successful 30th Anniversary Tour that also included original Outlaws member David Dix (drums) in addition to Thomasson, Paul, Yoho, Anderson and Threet.
Two years later in the summer of 2007, the band toured as part of the immensely popular Charlie Daniels Volunteer Jam Tour that included the Marshall Tucker Band.
This year, they once again have a lot to look forward to… a U.S. tour beginning February 22nd and, hopefully, a new album to be released later in the year.
Fans who come out this year can expect the band to play some of their greatest hits as “Green Grass & High Tides,” “There Goes Another Love Song,” “Hurry Sundown,” “(Ghost) Riders in the Sky” and “You Are The Show” as well as other fan favorites including “Knoxville Girl,” “Gunsmoke,” “South Carolina,” “Girl From Ohio” and “Freeborn Man.”
“We will remain faithful to the authentic musical style that launched this great band’s career, while creating new music to carry us forward into the future,” states Monte Yoho.
“We pride ourselves in continuing the tradition of a great American rock group,” adds Henry Paul. “We’re here to ensure that the music of Hughie, Billy, Frank and the rest of the Outlaws will never be forgotten.”
After all the band has endured, they could’ve easily ridden off into the sunset and called it a day… but that’s never been, and never will be, the way of the Outlaws.
