Overdrivers announce departure of member Sébastien Lorquet and upcoming search for new bassist
Big news in the French rockers Overdrivers‘ camp as bassist Sébastien Lorquet has elected to leave the group after a more than six year run with the band. Lorquet played on all of Overdrivers‘ albums consisting of Rockin’ Hell (2016), She’s On Her Period (2018) and the Rock Out! EP (2021). She’s On Her Period finished at #3 on the Sleaze Roxx’s Top Ten Albums of 2018.
The following message was posted on Overdrivers‘ Facebook page earlier today (with slight edits):
“hello to all, it is with great sadness that we announce to you that Sébastien Lorquet has decided to leave Overdrivers.
After more than 6 years of good and loyal services under the banner of Rock’N’Roll, Sébastien hangs up his bass, the group’s growing notoriety and the many demands associated with it are no longer made for him.
It’s his choice and we respect it. Sébastien has always been a serious and invested member, we will miss him, that’s for sure!
An announcement for the search for a new bassist will be released soon.
For the upcoming tour, no worries: Sébastien will ensure the entire dates of Overdrivers as long as his replacement has not been found and fully trained.
On this, see you soon darlings!”
In an interview with Sleaze Roxx back in early January 2019, Lorquet explained about how Overdrivers formed in the first place as he stated: “The band was formed in Northern France in 2015. Adrien [Desquirez, lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist] and Anthony [Clay, lead guitarist] began to play together in 2011. They looked for other musicians to play with them and I arrived in 2014. Florian Morgano joined the band in 2015, and we started to play gigs two months after that.”
