Ozzy Osbourne Defies Doctors Order To Play London Leg Of Ozzfest
September 20, 2010
NME.com reports: Ozzy Osbourne defied medical advice to headline the UK leg of Ozzfest at London’s O2 Arena on Saturday (September 18).
The singer had postponed his previous date, at the Konig Pilsener Arena in Oberhausen, just a few days before after sustaining a back injury, but cut short the four days rest he was advised to take to play a two-hour set in London.
The singer then took to the stage accompanied by an intro tape featuring him super-imposed into a series of movie and TV shows and music videos including The Hangover, Iron Man, Twlight and a Lady GaGa video.
A hail of flames and fireworks then engulfed the stage as Osbourne kicked off a career-spanning set feature five Black Sabbath tracks – ‘Fairies Wear Boots’, ‘War Pigs’, ‘Iron Man’, ‘Into The Void’ and set closer ‘Paranoid’ – plus material from his latest album ‘Scream’.
Ozzy Osbourne played:
‘Bark At The Moon’
‘Let Me Hear You Scream’
‘I Don’t Know’
‘Fairies Wear Boots’
‘Road To Nowhere’
‘Shot In The Dark’
‘Killer Of Giants’
‘Into The Void’
‘I Don’t Want To Change The World’
‘Mama, I’m Coming Home’
Meanwhile ‘main support’ band Korn performed tracks from their ninth studio album ‘Korn III: Remember Who You Are’ for the first time in the UK since the album’s release.
Elsewhere on the bill, Steel Panther appeared to confuse the metal crowd with their ‘lighter’ take on the genre, while Murderdolls made up for an eight-year wait between albums by showcasing tracks from their recently released opus ‘Women & Children Last’.
