OZZY OSBOURNE PUTS OZZFEST ON HOLD WHILE MAKING NEW ALBUM:

February 12, 2009

Ozzy Osbourne is putting his annual Ozzfest festival on hold for 2009 while he completes work on a new album. The as-yet-untitled follow-up to 2007’s “Black Rain” is due around Thanksgiving and will be co-produced by Osbourne with Kevin Churko.

Ozzfest was a one-off event in Frisco, Texas, last year, with appearances by Osbourne, Metallica, Serj Tankian, Korn’s Jonathan Davis and Sevendust.

In 2007, tickets were given away free through the Web sites of corporate sponsors. It was a groundbreaking move by Osbourne’s wife and manager Sharon, but the bands were not paid and there were several logistical snafus involving ticket distribution.

As previously reported, Osbourne and his family return to the small screen this spring on “The Osbournes: Reloaded,” a new variety show on Fox.
