Ozzy Osbourne Rare 1980 Guitar Pick Being Sold On Ebay

May 31, 2009

A rare Ozzy Osbourne guitar pick from 1980 is currently being auctioned off at this eBay location.

The auction states, Greg Lowry, a California-based guitarist, was rehearsing in a Los Angeles recording studio where rehearsals for the Blizzard of Ozz album were also underway. While inside the studio, Greg grabbed a bunch of picks from a box in the Ozzy Osbourne rehearsal space and saved most of them. This is one of those picks.

Those who have been both Ebayers and guitar pick collectors since about 1999 through 2000 will recall that Greg auctioned several of these yellow “Ozzy” picks, the the first-name only “Ozzy” logo on the front, and blank on the back. They went for a FORTUNE back then, and I was lucky enough to win ONE of them.

Greg was unable to tell me if this was in fact a “Randy Rhoads” pick, so I WILL NOT warrant that it is for absolute certain. He simply told me that he was certain that the rehearsal sessions were for the Blizzard of Ozz album. We all know who the guitarist was in the Ozzy Osbourne band in 1980 though…

I know of no Randy Rhoads signed picks in existence, with the possible exception of the “Double R” logo picks that Delores Rhoads was giving out to fans after Randy’s death in 1982 and shortly thereafter.

You all have exactly one chance to put this pick into your collection.

Collectors will no doubt note that this is an excellent strike, with no flaws in the printing. This one went directly into the plastic coin case that you see in the photo (my Dad was a coin collector), and there it has stayed ever since. I will ship the pick in the coin case as a protective measure.
