Partial Steeler reunion with Ron Keel, Rik Fox and Mitch Perry to take place at KEELFest on May 10th
It might not be the exact Steeler reunion involving guitarist Yngwie J. Malmsteen that fans might be expecting but a partial Steeler reunion featuring lead vocalist Ron Keel, bassist Rik Fox and guitarist Mitch Perry (who replaced Malmsteen in Steeler back in 1983) will be taking place at the first ever KEELFest at the Alrosa Villa in Columbus, Ohio, USA on May 10, 2019.
The following message was posted on Fox‘s Facebook page earlier today (with slight edits):
“Angeles Press Release announcement:
“New Angeles bassist Rik Fox will reunite with Steeler vocalist Ron Keel in a very special multi-presentation Keel celebration package, which will include a short tribute to the legendary Los Angeles cornerstone, seminal heavy metal band Steeler, which is to include legendary guitarist Mitch Perry. Rik isn’t leaving Angeles, rather, just joining some old friends for something special for the fans, and has been sitting on this secret since early 2018, sworn to secrecy until now.”
Amended excerpts from the Ron Keel Press Release, Details as follows…
Greetings to our People! Below is today’s big announcement from EMP Label Group…
“A major highlight of 2019 will be KEELFest, May 10th in Columbus, Ohio – a two-and-a-half-hour show paying homage to Keel’s historic catalog, including performances from the classic Keel lineup of Marc Ferrari, Bryan Jay, and Dwain Miller, a full set from the Ron Keel Band (Dave “DC” Cothern, Geno “El Diablo” Arce, Jeff “The Rev” Koller and Dakota Scott Schmitt) ?and a special segment paying tribute to legendary Keel-fronted 80’s Hollywood metal band Steeler. New Angeles Bassist Rik Fox, who played on the historic Steeler album, will join Ron Keel and renowned guitar hero Mitch Perry, who took Yngwie Malmsteen’s place in the band in 1983. Perry, now with glam-rock legends The Sweet, has also toured and recorded with MSG, Cher, Johnny Winter, Lita Ford and many others. Perry also made a guest appearance on Keel’s 1986 album “The Final Frontier” and has been a member of the Steeler/Keel family for 35 years. ?
KEELFest: Columbus 2019 will take place at the Alrosa Villa and is being promoted by Tong Productions, LLC. A special After Party Pass is available, so fans can have the unique opportunity to meet – and get their photo taken – with all three bands at once in the venue after the show’s conclusion. The ticket link is online at http://ronkeel.com.
“It’s a great way to keep the Keel reunion going while promoting the new Ron Keel Band album,” Ron said. “And the Steeler segment is really special because that’s a piece of metal history, and I think the fans will be excited to see Rik, Mitch and I playing those songs on stage again for the first time in 35 years. It’s gonna be a long night, the show is almost three hours…and then one hell of a party when it’s over.””
