Phil Lewis states reunion with Tracii Guns in L.A. Guns was not a “cash grab”

L.A. Guns frontman Phil Lewis was recently interviewed by The Daily Times and he spoke about his reunion with guitarist Tracii Guns in the band, which led to the new studio album The Missing Peace.

Lewis stated: “There was no excuse not to do it; it was something I couldn’t really refuse… We didn’t even do a soundcheck; I just showed up, got up and did my songs, and it felt great. We sat down and talked before the show, and we didn’t break anything down or go over the past; we just talked about current events and what songs we were going to play that night, and it went well. He said, ‘I’ve got a couple of solo acoustic shows coming up next week; would you be interested in coming and doing some noodling, some guitar-jamming, with me?’”

The singer continued: “The idea of going into the studio and working on some new ideas of his was very appealing, so it was just a natural progression… Everything was done for the right reason — it wasn’t a cash grab, because we were both doing fine before, and we’re both doing great now. Some people just bring out the best in you. I really do feel that me and Tracii, we’re that same Cain and Abel, that yin and yang. It certainly works for me and pushes me to 11, and I like to think I do the same for him as well. And it’s infectious — for the band, and for the fans and the people watching. It’s a lot of fun.”
