Poison taking 2019 off and may possibly return in 2020
Poison drummer Rikki Rockett was interviewed by Eamon O’Neill for eonmusic at Ultimate NAMM night in Anaheim, California, which took place on January 26, 2019.
In terms of when Poison will be returning, Rockett advised: “It’s not going to be 2019; it’s possibly going to be 2020. We’re not going to work this year.”
With respect to Poison‘s US headline tour last year, Rockett stated: “It was awesome, we had a great time… We headlined, and we hadn’t headlined in a long time. We kept getting great offers; Mötley Crüe and Def Leppard, and it’s hard to turn down. But this year we went for it, went out and headlined, brought Cheap Trick with us, brought Pop Evil with us and it was awesome. I wanted to keep going, I wanted to come to Europe! I want to do it.”
In regard to possible new music from Poison, Rockett opined: “I still love doing it, absolutely”, he said; “[But] I’d like to do new stuff, because I like that challenge. I like trying to convert people. I like making new music and trying to get people to like it over again; I like that challenge. I don’t like to just sit and relax – that’s not me – so hopefully we’ll do some new stuff, come over, play for some new audiences, older audiences too; that’s my goal.”
