R.I.P. ’80s video vixen Tawny Kitaen (1961-2021)
Multiple outlets have now confirmed the news first reported by Metal Sludge that Tawny Kitaen passed away at the age of 59.
The cause of death is still unknown at this time. Variety has reported that the coroner’s office from Orange County in California, USA, has stated that Kitaen, who is listed as Tawny Finley, died at her home in Newport Beach yesterday (May 7, 2021) morning.
Kitaen is best known in the hard rock / heavy metal circles as appearing on the cover of Ratt‘s multi-platinum album Out of The Cellar (1984) and featuring in Whitesnake‘s videos for the hit singles “Here I Go Again”, “Still of The Night” and “Is This Love.”
In terms of Kitaen‘s personal life, Wikipedia indicates in part (with slight edits): “Kitaen dated Ratt guitarist Robbin Crosby during and after high school. She followed the band to Los Angeles in the late 1970s to pursue a career of her own. Kitaen married Whitesnake singer David Coverdale in 1989. Coverdale and Kitaen divorced in 1991. Kitaen had an adulterous affair with O.J. Simpson while he was married to Nicole Brown Simpson. Kitaen was married to baseball player Chuck Finley from 1997 to 2002…. The couple had been married for five years and had two daughters together.”
Kitaen‘s two daughters posted the following message on their mother’s Facebook page earlier today:
