R.I.P. – Ex-Motörhead drummer Phil ‘Philthy Animal’ Taylor dies at age 61
Sad news. Ex-Motörhead drummer Phil ‘Philthy Animal’ Taylor died last night at the age of 61.
Taylor‘s former Motörhead bandmate of many years, “Fast” Eddie Clarke posted the following Facebook message less than two hours ago:
“My dear friend and brother passed away last night.
He had been ill for sometime but that does not make it any easier when the time finally comes. I have known Phil since he was 21 and he was one hell of a character. Fortunately we made some fantastic music together and I have many many fond memories of our time together. Rest in Peace, Phil!”
Taylor was born on September 11, 1954 in Hasland, Chesterfield, England. He played in Motörhead from 1975 to 1984 and from 1987 to 1992.
The mark IV Motörhead line-up of Lemmy Kilmister, Taylor and Clarke reunited onstage on November 6, 2014 at the National Indoor Arena in Birmingham, England where they played a rousing rendition of “Ace Of Spades” accompanied by drummer Mikkey Dee.
