Red Hot Chili Peppers Fail To Topple Nelly
RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS FAIL TO TOPPLE NELLY:
Based on final sales for the American chart later this week, it looks like Nelly has fought off stiff competition from Red Hot Chili Peppers ‘By The Way’ and will maintain his number 1 position.
Early sales figures had the Chili Peppers slightly in front, but as core fans scooped up the Chili album on the first day of release, the momentum quickly cooled and Nelly moved back on top.
At close of play, Nelly’s Nellyville was about 50,000 units in front finishing the week with around 320,000 units sold. Chili Peppers will debut at #2 on roughly 270,000 sales.
For the Chili Peppers, all is not total bad news. By The Way has outsold first week sales of Californication by around 100,000 units.
It’s not all bad news in Australia either. Red Hot Chili Peppers tickets have been selling like Hot …um Peppers for their By Their Way tour November / December. More than 14,000 tickets sold within hours of going on sale for the Sydney show, grossing around $1.1 million in just one morning.
