Release of Slash Puppet’s compilation album ‘Studs & Gems’ delayed for various reasons
Back in October 2019, Canadian rockers Slash Puppet had announced that they were going to be releasing a compilation album titled Studs & Gems. The compilation record has yet to be released but the intention is still to release at some point.
Slash Puppet frontman Mis provided the following update to Sleaze Roxx: “We have had to push back the release of the upcoming Slash Puppet compilation CD “Studs & Gems” due to some serious setbacks including a couple of deaths in the SP family and the ongoing Covid-19 crisis! It will be released at some point!!! Please stay tuned!!!
” In the meantime, Mif has been keeping busy with his acting career as he advised: “I just landed a recurring role on the HBO Max / Netflix series Titans and just finished shooting the teaser for Episode 2 on Season 3.”
Sleaze Roxx stated the following in part in its “Biography” for Slash Puppet: “Slash Puppet are a little known Canadian band that made some great music before getting swept under the rug by the grunge invasion.
Formed in Toronto, Ontario by Mif (vocals), Frank Bartoletti (guitar), Lou Garscadden (guitar), Pete Dove (bass) and Franklin Wyles (drums), Slash Puppet would play their debut show in October 1989 at Rock ‘N’ Roll Heaven. In one short year, they managed to win the Toronto Music Awards‘ “Best Club Act” and were quickly picked up by Rush‘s management and signed to a production deal with Sony / Anthem. The band released their first video, “Slow Down”, to Much Music in mid-1991 which helped sell over 2,500 copies of their independent demo. A year later, they were in the studio recording a six-song EP.”
