Are you struggling to find that last minute gift to fill up someone’s Christmas stocking? Well, what better way to celebrate the holidays than by giving copies of American Dog‘s soon to be yuletide classic Merry Christmas Asshole!!! to your horde of loved ones?

This isn’t your typical festive season offering however — instead American Dog delivers a working man’s take on Christmas. You know how it works, you save up your hard earned money for gifts to deliver to family members who you have little contact with throughout the rest of the year because it’s the ‘proper’ thing to do. In other words, ‘Santa Clause is coming, gonna kick you in the balls’. Ok, maybe “Merry Christmas Asshole” isn’t the perfect choice for a family gathering, but it’s far more truthful than ‘chestnuts roasting on an open fire’ — who does that? This ‘festive’ song is better suited to a dysfunctional family who drinks too much eggnog before erupting into fist-fights because the Xmas turkey was too dry — before you know it mistletoe is flying, children are crying, and Uncle Mike is being taken to the emergency ward after getting his skull cracked open by a flying drumstick. Welcome to an American Dog family Christmas — I think a TV special is in order!

Originally slated to be released as a single, American Dog show they aren’t complete Grinches by expanding this package to include some of their best known songs recorded live in the studio with a few close friends. “Devil Dog” and “Sometimes You Eat The Pussy” may not warm the heart of jolly old Saint Nick, but would be a welcome addition to any redneck Christmas. And if you’re a timid little elf, there is a radio friendly mix of “Merry Christmas Asshole” with a few well-placed beeps — although I think censoring the ‘naughty’ words with sleigh-bells would have been more appropriate.
