It took me a long time to review this CD, and not because it is something special, believe me when I say that it is not. Why it took me a long time is because I was trying to find something original and good about this live EP that will make it stick out in the crowd. Unfortunately, there is nothing great about Live Is Beautiful.

What’s disappointing is that the songs were recorded at different Cruefest shows, and I’m guessing they took the best takes. Well, those takes are so-so in my honest opinion, and that’s mostly because of lead singer James Michael who hits and misses in some places. I guess the highlight of the CD is the live rendition of “Life Is Beautiful”, complete with audience participation. For the most part though this EP sounds exactly like The Heroin Diaries Soundtrack release, just with crowd noise.

All-in-all, Live Is Beautiful is for completists and fans of Sixx: A.M.‘s respective members only. The EP is thrown in as a bonus on the latest pressings of The Heroin Diaries Soundtrack, offering a little more bang for your buck. But if you already own that album, to purchase this live EP on its own would be foolish, especially since it clocks in at under 35 minutes and contains only six ‘real’ songs. –
