Rikki Rockett Knows Nothing About Possible Poison Tour
September 21, 2014
Just last week Poison frontman Bret Michaels revealed that the band could tour in 2015, but he obviously hasn’t made everyone aware of his plans.
“It looks like it will happen,” Michaels told Cleveland Scene. “It’s been a few years — we just want to put together the right package and show to celebrate with everyone.” Michaels also didn’t rule out another Poison album by saying, “When the time’s right, I’m sure it will happen. We are all just in different places right now — But we are never done making music.”
This is all news to drummer Rikki Rockett however, who explained that he knows nothing of any such plans.
“Well, I don’t really know what the reality of that is, quite honestly,” Rockett recently told The Shoe with Miles Schuman. “Bret says a lot of things. I’m not gonna say if it will happen or won’t happen, because I really don’t know. Nobody’s given me any indication that there’s a tour at all.”
“I don’t know why he said what he said,” Rockett continued. “Nobody’s sat down with me and said, ‘There’s a pending tour here. What do you think about that?’ I haven’t heard anything about that. So the reality is, at this point in time, right now as I sit here talking to you, there is not a Poison tour. That doesn’t mean there couldn’t be one, but I’m just saying that I haven’t had a contract come across my table. I didn’t get the text — I didn’t get the memo on that one (laughs).”
Rockett isn’t sitting around waiting on a possible Poison tour either, as he has teamed up with guitarist Tracii Guns, Cinderella bassist Eric Brittingham and singer Brandon Gibbs in the Devil City Angels.
The super-group promises an energetic and entertaining show with some of their multi-platinum hits blended with new, original material. “I think people are really ready for just some pure fun rock,” says Rockett. “We’re just here to rock.”
Right out of the gate, Devil City Angels released the rocking, upbeat song “All My People” and are currently playing select dates in America.
