Ron Keel Working On Star Studded Solo Album ‘Metal Cowboy’

September 4, 2013

Ron Keel has announced details about the release of his new solo album, ‘Metal Cowboy’, launching a 60 day PledgeMusic campaign that gives fans access to downloads, updates, and exclusive music/merchandise/memorabilia packages by visiting www.pledgemusic.com/projects/ronkeelmetalcowboy.

The album, available as a digital download and Deluxe Edition CD with bonus tracks, will be released on January 28th, simultaneously with the singer’s long-awaited autobiography ‘Even Keel: Life On The Streets Of Rock & Roll’. The CD, book, and other merchandise and fan exclusives (including rare memorabilia, Master Class voice lessons via Skype, and even House Concerts) are available in various bundles via the PledgeMusic campaign.

After selling millions of records and touring the world as a heavy metal screamer in Keel and Steeler and as a country music artist, Ron Keel is combining those styles to forge a new sound that will resonate with the Metal Cowboy in all of us. The new music features his trademark strengths: strong powerful riffs and hooks, anthem choruses, and powerful vocals, combined with elements of southern rock and country songwriting and instrumentation.

“The music sounds just like the title implies — ‘Metal Cowboy’ — hard and heavy with a southern side,” states the Keel frontman. “Kind of like if AC/DC made a Skynyrd album — gritty screaming vocals, powerful rock riffs, but with some classic southern rock elements like Frank Hannon’s slide guitar. The Metal Cowboy album combines my love of arena rock with my southern side, and I promise you an album that is ‘hard on the outside, with heart on the inside’. Come along for the ride!”

Backing Ron up on this upcoming release will be Y&T drummer Mike Vanderhule, Tesla’s Frank Hannon, and Geno Arce (Keel/IronHorse), with other special guests including Oz Fox (Stryper), Paul Shortino (Rough Cutt/Quiet Riot/King Kobra), Brent Muscat (Faster Pussycat), Bryan Jay (Keel), Stacey Blades (formerly of L.A. Guns), and a ‘live in studio’ recording with the Sin City Sinners.

“PledgeMusic gives me a total state-of-the-art marketing and distribution platform to share everything with the fans,” Keel continues. “It’s an online store, it’s a social network where we can exchange comments and messages, there’s a music player where people can listen to audio clips from the album, plus my weekly radio show. I want people to really feel like they are a part of this with me.”

Once the goal of financing the project is complete, 10% of all proceeds will go to the Wounded Warrior Project charity.
