Rowan Robertson won’t release two unreleased Dio boom box tracks without management’s blessing

Former Dio and current Bang Tango and DC4 guitarist Rowan Robertson was recently interviewed along with Armored Saint and DC4 guitarist Jeff Duncan by Jimmy Kay of The Metal Voice at NAMM 2018 and spoke about the two unreleased demo tracks that he recorded with the late Ronnie James Dio that have yet to be released.

Back in October 2015, Sleaze Roxx asked Robertson about the existence of Dio rehearsal recordings that he might have for the follow up to Lock Up The Wolves. Robertson advised at that time: “No, that’s not true. I have boom box recordings of two songs that never made the ‘Lock Up The Wolves’ album, but haven’t released those. For me, that is a call for Wendy [Dio] to make.”

Speaking to The Metal Voice, Robertson reiterated his position in terms of releasing the unreleased recordings as he stated (as transcribed by The Metal Voice with slight edits): “No (shaking his head with a ‘yes’) there is two songs which were just done on a boom box in rehearsal and I just really would like to get permission from management, cause I don’t want to get in trouble.” Robertson went on to state (as transcribed by Sleaze Roxx): “I would love for them to be out there but I think after, after Ronnie‘s gone, I mean he’s not here to say, ‘Argh. Don’t play anyone that.’ You know what I mean? So…”

With respect to the Dio Hologram Tour, Robertson advised: “I think it’s great, it keeps his memory alive and I don’t see any problem with it at all”
