Salems Lott Release Debut Music Video “No Choice To Love”

December 11, 2014

From Hollywood, California comes Salems Lott, an over-the-top band determined to reinvigorate the shock rock genre. With their debut EP slated for release in January 2015, the group have unleashed a music video for their first single “No Choice To Love”.

“Our image is an extension and visual portrayal of our music but at the same time it’s also meant to communicate a blunt retaliation and antithesis to the current ‘modern’ rock scene”, frontman Monroe Black tells Sleaze Roxx. “If I were to truly speak my mind, I think rock music these days is missing a lot more than image, something that the most extravagant image could never communicate without. A strong passion, character and the audacity to strike out on your own, which is all reflected in your music. The ‘modern’ rock scene has been in stagnation for the past 10+ years: therefore; the genre (modern rock) itself has become dated and the term ‘modern’ (within modern rock) seems like a paradox in my opinion. We’ve basically had a non stop continuous barrage of alternative styled rock and that seems to be the safe/’modern’ choice from which many new bands continuously draw influence. I guess you could say rock bands these days do actually have an image. They are making a conscious choice to present themselves the way they do, so their lack of ‘image’ is an image itself.”

“From my experience, I feel that people want more from their rock bands,” Monroe continues. “They want to feel that passion, a connection to that raw energy in whichever way the performer wishes to communicate the message. We choose to communicate our message through our music and an aggressive live performance/show. It’s animalistic, it’s power. So if people get it, we’re humbled that they feel the way we feel. Ultimately, only time will tell.”

Salems Lott formed in Hollywood in late 2013 and are known for their high-energy and excessively violent stage performances. The band — consisting of Monroe (vocals/guitar), Jett (guitar), Kay (bass) and Tony F. Corpse (drums) — utilizes psycho theater and Hi-tech musicianship that involves a chainsaw sacrifice, upside down guitar solos and backwards drumming. Their upcoming debut EP will feature seven tracks of unrelenting, in-your-face heavy metal — combining elements of bands such as Megadeth, Motley Crue, X-Japan, King Diamond, W.A.S.P., Alice Cooper, Racer X, Ozzy Osbourne and Accept.

When asked it was like putting together the EP, Monroe told Sleaze Roxx, “To be honest it was a long and hard road. Keep in mind we are a completely self-funded band so a lot of blood, sweat and tears went into this thing. But this is also something we anticipated, so we constantly remained hungry and motivated to complete the EP and we always had a specific vision of what we wanted sonically for the end product. We were literally involved in every aspect of the process with our great producer Sean Lee; who worked with members of AC/DC, Motley Crue, Ratt, U.D.O., Guns N’ Roses etc.”

“For this record, we all had a perfectionist attitude and wanted to capture a true organic sound,” concludes Monroe. “This included re-recording all of the songs with different amps, trying to achieve the best drum sound, going back to the mix: in short, a lot of hard work that goes on behind the scenes but definitely makes it worth while. By the end of it, we were so involved with the project that Jett and I actually took over the mastering process ourselves to really achieve our end vision.”

Pre-orders for the ‘Salems Lott’ EP will begin on December 28th at salemslott.com.
