Sammy Hagar a little nervous about doing a Sammy Hagar & The Circle record

Former Van Halen and current Chickenfoot and Sammy Hagar & The Circle frontman Sammy Hagar was recently interviewed on Trunk Nation show on the Sirius XM channel Volume. The singer talked about either doing a Chickenfoot or a Circle album next year.

Hagar stated (as provided by Blabbermouth with slight edits): “Joe [Satriani] and I have been talking, when he finishes his [solo] tour next June, if he has enough time and if Chad‘s [Smith] available, about doing another Chickenfoot record. And if they can’t do it, if we can’t all get together, then I’m gonna do a Circle record. It’s gonna be one or the other. Those are my two favorite bands in the world. And I would like to do a Circle record. I’m just afraid that, how can you compare my catalog with something we might write today? Chickenfoot‘s got its own thing, but The Circle, we play Led Zeppelin, Van Halen, Sammy Hagar, Montrose, Chickenfoot… It’s, like, to write songs that fit in that set, boy, they better be good, right? [Laughs] In between ‘I Can’t Drive 55’ and ‘Right Now’, let’s say, what are you gonna… a brand new one you’re gonna slip in there? Phew! You don’t wanna put the people to sleep. So I’m a little nervous about doing a Circle record. But a Chickenfoot record… I’m gonna do a record — let’s put it that way.”

Sleaze Roxx stated the following in its review of the concert from Sammy Hagar & The Circle at Fallsview Casino in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada back in June 2017: “What became apparent right away by the time that Hagar and company launched into the classic “I Can’t Drive 55” is that Sammy and company had so many great songs under their belt that any song played on this night could have legitimately been a song played as an encore. “I Can’t Drive 55” is definitely encore material yet was being played as the fifth song of the night.”
