Saxon aiming to release new studio album in January 2018
The Metal Voice recently interviewed Saxon‘s frontman Bill Byford and guitarist Doug Scarratt at the Belasco Theater in Los Angeles, and asked them about details of Saxon‘s upcoming studio album.
Byford replied: “On the next album we are going to do a duet with somebody, maybe, that’s quite hardcore with us. We have recorded 7 songs already, we are actually got 3 more songs and going to write 3 -4 more. I finished the vocals before we came on tour. We rent a studio while we are at the festivals, a week of studio. It will be produced by Andy Sneep. He has gone off to do Judas Priest while we are here and when we get back in September will continue, it will be out 2018, maybe January? I have done some about lyrics about Nosferatu the Bram Stoker thing (Vampire Count Orlok) a very dark song and I am also doing a Motorhead song called “They Played Rock And Roll.””
Sleaze Roxx stated the following in its review of Saxon‘s previous studio album Battering Ram: “This whole album is filled with fantastic guitar riffs and gun blazing solos. For example, “Destroyer,” “Hard and Fast,” and “Stand Your Ground” each all start with a great riff and you are sucked in right away. I could not help but to rock out! They have that BIG guitar sound with two guitars playing together that makes this music so powerful. “Three Sheets To the Wind” ends Battering Ram with what is sure to be a classic drinking song among friends. This is what a rock album is supposed to sound like!”
