Sebastian Bach And Poison Added To Sweden Rock Festival
SEBASTIAN BACH AND POISON ADDED TO SWEDEN ROCK FESTIVAL:
February 13, 2008
Sweden Rock Festival 2008 is proud to announce the latest acts confirmed for their show:
SEBASTIAN BACH (US)
His 2005 Sweden Rock Festival gig was one of the most talked about shows of that year and the brand new studio album “Angel Down” is undoubtedly the best record he has made since the early 90’s, so it is our great pleasure to be able to add the name Sebastian Bach to this years festival line-up.
The former Madam X vocalist was elevated into super stardom as frontman in Skid Row, who made the exceptionally successful albums “Skid Row” and “Slave to the Grind” in 1989 and 1991 respectively. After the 1994 longplayer “Subhuman Race” and subsequent tour, Bach has been breaking new ground for himself as an actor and musical artist while releasing solo albums like “Bring ’em Bach Alive” and “Bach 2 Basics” and making countless guest appearances on various recordings. With “Angel Down”, released in November 2007, his solo career seems to be in full focus. The record offers relentless hard rock/metal in the vein of the hardest Skid Row material and Bachs band includes renowned guitarist Metal Mike Chlasciak, drummer Bobby Jarzombek and bassist Steve DiGiorgio.
POISON (US)
Love them or hate them, Poison is one of those bands that everyone has an opinion about. Widely recognized as one of the flag ships of 80’s hard rock, Poison has it all: the glam, the sleaze, the catchy melodies, the best looking babes and the non-stop never ending party!
Songs like “Talk Dirty”, “Cry Tough” and “I Want Action” from their debut album “Look What the Cat Dragged In” (released in 1986) as well “Ride the Wind”, “Fallen Angel”, “Stand” and “Unskinny Bop” from later albums “Open Up and Say… Ahh!”, “Flesh & Blood” and “Native Tongue” are not easily forgotten, and should anyone predict that the ‘powerballad of the powerballads’ “Every Rose Has It’s Thorn” will be the sing-along highlight of this summers festival we won’t argue!
Just as 22 years ago, the band line-up is Bret Michaels (vocals), Bobby Dall (bass), Rikki Rocket (drums) and CC DeVille (guitars). They have made 7 studio albums so far, not including the live album “Swallow This Live” (with 4 new studio tracks), 3 greatest hits collections and the most recent album “Poisoned!” from last year, a collection of covers of songs by the bands Poison have been the most influenced by.
Poison never had a soft spot for Europe. No matter how much their European fans have demanded them to cross the ocean – the band has stayed away. The first, and so far only, show in Sweden was played in August 1990 at the Monsters Of Rock in Stockholm, where Poison teamed up with Quireboys and Whitesnake. As magical as it was, Poison never came back – until now!
When Poison finally returns to Europe for the first time in 15 years, it is for one very exclusive show only, and it is at Sweden Rock Festival! It’s one night only folks, and it’ll be a night to remember!
TOBIAS SAMMET’S AVANTASIA (D)
WORLD PREMIERE AT SWEDEN ROCK FESTIVAL 2008!
Yes, it’s true! Edguy main man Tobias Sammet’s cult metal opera project will arrive at this year’s SRF to coincide with its becoming a stage act for the first time ever! Avantasia created something of a sensation with its two “The Metal Opera”-albums in 2001-02, and then yet another one with the announcement that Sammet was going to revive the project for another album after all; current success “The Scarecrow”. For Avantasia’s first ever live performances Sammet is being backed by a phenomenal band, whose merits include Kamelot, Heaven’s Gate and – of course – Edguy. And as the icing on the cake, the biggest sensation of all: the star vocalists returning for another go at their “roles” on stage. People like Bob Catley (Magnum), Jorn Lande (ex-Masterplan), Andre Matos (ex-Angra) and Amanda Somerville (ex-Aina). It’s possible that there will be even more guests! To repeat an ever-relevant kliche: this is definitely not to be missed!
We recommend: “The Metal Opera Part 1 & 2”, “The Scarecrow”.
VIVIAN (CH)
VIVIAN was founded in 1998 and in the same year achieved “newcomer of the year” status in Lucerne. Three years later they released their debut album “V” (BMG). In 2003 and 2005 the following releases “Alive” (Warner) and “Don’t Look Down” (Hammersound/ZYX) became the true debut of the band (both albums Top 30 in Switzerland), offering their fans a freer, fresher, smarter more awake sound, the real sound of VIVIAN. With “Alive” and “Don’t Look Down” VIVIAN exploded onto the scene with main stage performances at Open Air St Gallen, Montreux Jazz Festival, support shows with The Cranberries, Lenny Kravitz, Avril Lavigne, Status Quo and a three week US-Tour.
With their latest release “Vivianism” in the luggage, Vivian will come to Sweden Rock Festival to show that they now can stand on their own feet. Classic american radio rock de luxe!
