Skid Row bassist Rachel Bolan and guitarist Dave Sabo been working with outside writers for new album

Skid Row bassist Rachel Bolan and guitarist Dave “Snake” Sabo were recently interviewed by France’s Duke TV and spoke about writing for the band’s next studio album.

Bolan stated (as transcribed by Sleaze Roxx): “It’s not like we’re writing the while record with outside writers. Obviously, we have a lot of friends that we respect as songwriters and we wrote with a few of them. Whether they end up on the record or not, we don’t know but we, we feel pretty strong about the songs but we haven’t all gotten in a room really and rehearsed them. It was a fun process because we’ve [pointing to guitarist Dave “Snake” Sabo] been writing together for over 30 years and it’s the first time that we actually kind of went outside of our comfort zone. Doing it with friends has just made it a little more comfortable. We’re pretty happy with the tunes we have so far and [singer] ZP [Theart] definitely contributes and I’m sure he’ll continue to contribute even more.”

Sabo added: “Really, the main reason why we did was to learn from other people too, you know? To, to just get different perspectives and stuff. There’s no pushing and pulling. It’s just — you’re making music for the love of making music. Not because you need to fulfill a quota or a deadline or anything like that, and it’s not for the money. It’s for the love of doing it. That’s the way it should be.”
