Skid Row singer Erik Grönwall shares his own list of values compiled while he underwent cancer treatments
New Skid Row frontman Erik Grönwall has had a new lease on life after successful battling cancer about one year ago and joining his favorite band of all-time earlier this year. Skid Row will be releasing their much anticipated new studio album The Gang’s All Here via earMusic on October 14, 2022.
Through his Facebook account earlier today, the Skid Row singer shared his list of values that he compiled while previously undergoing cancer treatments.
“During my treatments and in my talks with my artist and mental coach/ therapist @sofialilja – I had this idea of writing down some kind of moral code, similar to the samurai’s bushido, but with my own values and with the perspective I had at the time. ⠀
I wanted to make sure I didn’t forget about that perspective as I returned to a more normal life. I just found the list and I’m sharing it with you.⠀
1. Health first. Exercise regularly both mentally and physically. ⠀
2. Family and close friends always come first. There is no job, no money, no project or hobby that is more important. I do however need my health in order to take care of them (hence health first). ⠀
3. Measure everything in time. Where I invest my time is the most important decision of my life. ⠀
4. Show respect to all people you meet and expect the same kind of respect in return. If the respect is not mutual, just walk away and never look back.⠀
5. Optimism. Smile, laugh, find the silver lining. Spread joy and happiness. ⠀
6. Loyalty. Always do what you say you’re going to do. Apologize/ compensate and hold yourself accountable if you fail. ⠀
7. Integrity. I know who I am and what I want. I won’t let anyone except me change that.⠀
8. Courage. I will never ever hesitate to speak up. I will never back down. However, I will choose my battles. Life’s too short to spend too much time dealing with idiots. ⠀
9. Ego. Don’t take things too personally, I will not take myself too seriously, I will silence my ego. ⠀
10. Dying is inevitable. I will not fear death but I will be terrified of dying without having really lived. I’m going to live my life my way. ⠀
