Reunited rock legends Spinal Tap have been nominated for two Grammy Awards. The band’s latest CD ‘Back From The Dead’ has been nominated for ‘Best Comedy Album – For comedy recordings, spoken or musical’ and ‘Best Recording Package’.
In the ‘Best Comedy Album – For comedy recordings, spoken or musical’ category Spinal Tap will battle with Stephen Colbert’s ‘A Colbert Christmas: The Greatest Gift Of All!’, Weord Al Yankovic’s ‘Internet Leaks’, Patton Oswalt’s ‘My Weakness Is Strong’,Kathy Griffen’s ‘Suckin’ It For The Holidays’ and George Lopez’ ‘Tall, Dark & Chicano’.
Spinal Tap is up against David Byrne & Brian Eno’s ‘Everything That Happens Will Happen Today’, Neko Case’s ‘Middle Cyclone’, Splitting Adam’s self-titled album and the various artist compilation ‘Tathagata’. Brian Porizek was the art director for Spinal Tap’s ‘Left For Dead’, which can be transformed into a ‘action figure stage show’.
The 52nd Annual Grammy Awards will take place on January 31, 2010 at Los Angeles’ Staple Center and be broadcast CBS.
