Station officially announce new drummer Jimmi Kane

Jimmi Kane photoNew York hard rockers, Station, have officially announced that Jimmi Kane is their new drummer.

The group posted the following message on its Facebook account:

“Many of you have seen Jimmi with us on the road in 2015, but we are so happy to officially post this. Jimmi Kane on drums! Catch him beating the hell out of the drums at Mexicali Live on 1/29 and Knitting Factory Brooklyn and 2/4.”

Speaking exclusively with Sleaze Roxx, Station guitarist Chris Lane explained why Justin Ryan Adelman-Gaynor was no longer in the band: “Justin and the band parted ways because we wanted different things. Justin came in after the album was finished and as we were setting up our 2015 plans. After a little while, it became clear that to move forward, we needed someone else behind the kit. The timing was perfect because our good friend, Jimmi, who is a beast of a player and just a seriously good dude had been talking to the band. Things have a way of working out sometimes, so we were very happy.”

With respect to how Station hooked up with Kane, Lane stated: “We met Jimmi several years ago. He was playing in another band at the time. We played a few shows with them and hit it off as friends. His talent was obvious from just watching what he could do with the drums. He ended up leaving that group, but kept in touch with us. When the time was right, we started talking about playing music together. He started playing with us in June.”

Station CD coverIn regards to why Station waited so long to officially announce Kane as their new drummer, Lane advised: “We both felt very strongly about waiting a little while before announcing that we were officially in it together. I equate it to asking someone to marry you after one date. You might know, but you might want to go out a second time first [laughs]. Often, it takes time to make sure everything is right. Just because you’re a great drummer doesn’t mean you’re a great personality match to spend hours on a bus together. It takes time to check all the boxes and make sure everyone is on the same page. We were all comfortable with each other from the get go, but we all needed to take some time before announcing something like this. It’s a very big deal for us because of the commitment we make to each other and the band, so saying “this person is a part of Station” means a lot to us.”

Station released their debut full-length self-titled album back in April 2015. Sleaze Roxx stated the following in its review of the album Station: “Station as we already know are just damn good. They know it and they are crushing it! This follow up to the amazing EP Wired is anything but bogus. If you were one of the few lucky ones to nab the EP, consider yourselves blessed! Here the band has taken that ever so perfectly polished four song EP, pulled three of the four gems off (“I Don’t Want to Know Your Name”, “Everything” and “True Believer” all of which are, as we already know, stupendous songs), knocked some of the polish off and re-recorded them for the full length. Then these hit making prodigies added 12 more instant Station classics — that’s right, classics.”

Station‘s debut full-length self-titled album can be purchased directly from the band’s Bandcamp page.
