Stryper frontman Michael Sweet states that he has no beef with Sebastian Bach and respects him
Stryper lead vocalist and guitarist Michael Sweet was recently interviewed by Andrew Catania for All That Shreds.
Back in late 2016, Sweet and former Skid Row frontman Sebastian Bach had publicly traded insults at each other with Bach stating Sweet had a “big fucking mouth” and later calling him a “pussy.” Sweet on the other hand stated that 16 year old emerging artist Moriah Formica‘s rendition of “I Remember You” smoked the original singer’s version and later called Bach a “tool.”
Catania asked Sweet if he and Bach had settled whatever beef they had between them.
Sweet replied: “I’ve reached out to Sebastian a couple of times and emailed him. I have no beef with him at this time. I respect Sebastian, he’s a great singer, and it’s water under the bridge as far as I’m concerned. Hopefully, it is with him too. Those things happen in life, and it’s all good.”
In terms of why Stryper decided to name their upcoming new studio album God Damn Evil, Sweet advised: “We didn’t do it just to shake things up. We have a point to prove in a statement. A few years back we thought about using this title. We didn’t go with it because we felt it was a little too much at that time. Now in 2018, with everything that we’ve seen on the news, the evil we’re faced with on a daily basis to new levels and new degrees, it made perfect sense for us to have an album called God Damn Evil. It’s a prayer request. It is what it is. It’s not a swear, it’s not just the shock statement, it’s a prayer request, and we’re asking God to damn the evil that we see. It should be a prayer for everybody. Some people are freaking out thinking you’re taking the Lord’s name in vain, and it’s not that at all.”
