SWEDEN ROCK FESTIVAL ADDS HANOI ROCKS AND AIRBOURNE:

February 25, 2008

Now we can present another 3 bands confirmed to play Sweden Rock Festival 2008.

First out is Chicago based DISTURBED who will deliever a heavy show and hopefully play some songs from their new album “Indestructible” due to release in May. Finnish glam heroes HANOI ROCKS is back after the success in 2002. Then we finally present australian AIRBOURNE that has taken the world by storm with their AC/DC oozing rock!

DISTURBED (US)
American band Disturbed was formed in 1996 and made their debut four years later with “The Sickness” (which has now sold in the excess of 3.4 million copies). The debut was followed by “Believe”, which has reached platinum status in the US, and in 2005 “Ten Thosand Fists” saw the light of day. The latter contains a crushing cover of Genesis’ “Land of Confusion”. All ready early on Disturbed was part of the Ozzfest line-up and became main support for Black Sabbath. Heavy and aggressive, but still with a melodic feel, is one way to descrive the sound of Disturbed. The band’s new album “Indestructible” will hit the stores in May, in good time for their visit at Sweden Rock Festival.

HANOI ROCKS (FIN)
After a handful of strong releases in the early 80’s, the Finnish band Hanoi Rocks seemed to be heading for their big break. Press and rock fans alike loved their highly original, hard rock’n’roll and the band had just signed with the major label CBS. But then, drummer Razzle was killed in an accident following an unfortunate car ride with Motley Crue singer Vince Neil and Hanoi Rocks career met an untimely end. The quintets impact on rock history was still immense. For instance, Guns n’ Roses confessed to having borrowed their entire concept from the Finns.

Just after the turn of the millennium, central figures Michael Monroe and Andy McCoy reformed Hanoi Rocks. Since then, the group has released three studio albums that are even better than their 80’s outings while quickly regaining their reputation as an astonishing live act.

Their current line-up includes Conny Bloom, former front man with legendary Swedish band Electric Boys.

AIRBOURNE (AUS)
NWoAHR – New Wave of Australian Hard Rock – a term to remember! The country down under has put new life into worl rock n roll. When AC/DC are abscent it’s time for the young and hungry to take over. Wolfmother, Jet and now Airbourne. The band’s internation debut “Running Wild” (following the self-financed “Ready To Rock”) is a fresh example of straight ahead, no noncens, uncomplicated and highly energetic hard rock. The band’s music is also found on video games such as Madden 08″, “NHL 08”, “Need For Speed” and “Grand Theft Auto IV”. The band’s code of honour is – “Stand up for rock n roll” – something they of course stand up for themselves!
