Talon Gearing Up To Drop ‘Fourplay’ In March
Talon Gearing Up To Drop ‘Fourplay’ In March
January 12, 2015
Talon have reunited with singer Michael O’Mara and will release ‘Fourplay’ on March 20th through Escape Music. Produced by Ty Sims, the album is the follow-up to 2011’s ‘III’ and represents the group’s fourth studio release.
An American band based in California, Talon was born from the ashes of Voxen — a group that achieved international success with their ‘Sacrifice’ release, which included a track that was used in the major motion picture Outbreak starring Dustin Hoffman.
Soon after, a new vision was brought forward with the recruitment of vocalsit Michael O’Mara (Joshua Perahia, EFX) and demos were soon recorded which culminated in the release of their self-titled debut in 2002. Upon release, the CD was wildly praised and was on countless top 10 lists for the year. Major live shows soon followed, including The Gods Festival in the UK. Talon also had the privilege of being Stan Bush’s backing band at The Gods Festival and the subsequent DVD release.
After a break of working on individual projects, Talon recorded new demos and ultimately recorded their next release ‘Fallen Angels’. With a closer vibe to an AOR feel, New York native Chandler Mogel was brought on board to handle vocals. Mogel went on to front the Greece outfit Outloud and Talon then used the vocal talents of Shawn Pelata (Line Of Fire) and keyboardsman Eric Ragno (China Blue, Takara), resulting in ‘III’ which was released on Escape Music in 2011. ‘III’ proved to be a great album which strengthened the bands reputation and the addition of Jeff Scott Soto on guest vocals helped them gain a strong following.
This brings us to 2015 and the band have gone back to their roots and Michael O’Mara is back behind the mike stand. This is great news, and to add to the excitement Talon had the great pleasure to have contributions from some amazing friends and guitarists in Tim Pierce (Bon Jovi, Ozzy Osbourne, Santana, Elton John) and Pete Fry (FarCry, Rockarma).
