Tom Keifer states his solo band has best chemistry of any band that he’s ever been in
Cinderella frontman Tom Keifer was recently interviewed by Melanie Falina of AXS and spoke about a number of topics including the release of his solo band’s The Way It Goes – Deluxe Edition.
With respect to the two bonus tracks including his duet with Halestorm‘s Lzzy Hale on “Nobody’s Fool” and how amazing the latter is, Keifer stated: “Yes, she is. That was something that came about on tour for The Way Life Goes when it was initially released and we ended up doing some shows with Halestorm. Lzzy and I ended up on stage singing that song for the encore and people just loved it. And we’ve done it many times since – pretty much any time we’re in the same building together we’ll jump on stage to do that song. [laughs] It just felt very natural, and the chemistry of our voices is great. And I never really thought of that song as a duet until the idea was presented to us and we worked out that arrangement where she sings one verse and I sing the second – it just worked. Fans were asking for a studio version of it so it came to mind when we were thinking about which bonus tracks to record.”
In terms of the real “family vibe” that Keifer‘s solo band seems to have on stage, the singer advised: “Yes, this the best chemistry with any band I’ve ever been in. Musically, on stage, off stage, traveling together – the whole ball of wax – it really has been since day one. And what’s really cool too is musical chemistry live has been really pretty undeniable from the first night but that doesn’t always translate into the studio, and this was not the band that played on the original The Way Life Goes, that was with session players. So when we recorded those bonus tracks with the new touring band the chemistry translated perfectly into the studio. If you watch the documentary that’s included in the deluxe edition you can see everyone’s creativity and how we worked together, and it’s really cool. And that’s rare, I think what we have is rare.”
