Van Halen Is ‘Getting Along Famously’ Says David Lee Roth

When Van Halen postponed over 30 tour dates late last week speculation quickly arose that the Van Halen brothers and singer David Lee Roth were once again at each other’s throats — but the enigmatic frontman has dispelled those rumors.

In a video statement Diamond Dave says, “the band is getting along famously, better than we have in quite some time, and I think the shows reveal that.”

Regarding the cancelled shows Dave reveals, “As usual we bit off way more than we could chew when it came to scheduling. The band is winning but our schedule has been sidelined for unnecessary roughness. If we continue past July 4th, and all the way into Australia and Japan, then we’re asking for the robot zombie tour… you don’t want to get to that point. We’re nowhere near that point but we’re gonna take a break… because this tour is gonna take us about two years.”

Last week Van Halen yanked more than 30 long-planned dates, including shows in Milwaukee, Detroit, Cleveland, Salt Lake City and El Paso. Local promoters United Concerts and AEG issued statements regarding some postponed shows to local media, including the Salt Lake Tribune and Las Cruces Sun-News, but no details have been offered yet about rescheduled dates or refunds.
