Velvet Revolver Close To Landing New Singer
November 6, 2011
Rocker Duff McKagan is confident his supergroup Velvet Revolver will have a new frontman by the end of 2011.
The band, which also features Slash and Matt Sorum, has been on hiatus since singer Scott Weiland was fired over three years ago, but bassist McKagan insists they’re close to finding his permanent replacement.
He says, “I think we may be looking at somebody in December, which is fun to think about (and) I believe in my heart of hearts it’ll happen.”
McKagan and Slash recently performed with Ours frontman Jimmy Gnecco at a benefit concert and after the show, the bassist said, “There was a singer there we might write some songs with.”
It is not known if Gnecco is the mystery man who will audition for Velvet Revolver next month.
British rocker Royston Langdon, Donovan Leitch, Slipknot’s Corey Taylor and Myles Kennedy have all reportedly auditioned for the group’s vacant frontman spot.
