Velvet Revolver’s Slash On Macs And Gibson

VELVET REVOLVER’S SLASH ON MACS AND GIBSON:

January 19, 2008

Slash is probably one of the most recognizable names and faces in modern rock music. With his familiar look of a hat, sunglasses and a cigarette, Slash was the toast of NAMM as he posed for pictures with his new Epiphone Signature Series guitar.

I had the opportunity to sit privately with Slash for a little while and discuss a few things including Macs and his new Epiphone guitar.

As they have done in the past with musicians like Zakk Wylde, Gibson launched an Epiphone branded Slash guitar. While the guitars are a bit cheaper than their Gibson counterparts, Slash said he is really happy with the way it turned out.

“Epiphone is great,” said Slash. “All things considered the only difference is the name — there is no reason not to play one of these guitars.”

Slash said that even as a kid he was attracted to the Les Paul guitars because that’s what the people he listened to played. Although he did go through a period of trying out all kinds of guitar models, he kept coming back to the Les Paul.

“It’s the one I’m most comfortable with — if it’s not broke, don’t fix it,” said Slash.

Slash is also a Mac user and uses his notebook all the time. He said he is working with some music software and hardware, but like many guitar players, finding that perfect tone digitally can be a daunting task.
