Vince Neil DUI And Speeding Case Headed To Trial
October 11, 2010
Josh Grossberg of Eonline.com reports: Vince Neil just took a walk on the legal side.
The Motley Crue singer pleaded not guilty Monday to misdemeanor DUI and speeding charges resulting from his June bust in Las Vegas, E! News has learned.
Per a spokeswoman for the Clark County District Attorney’s Office, the 49-year-old Neil’s attorney entered the plea in Las Vegas Justice Court on his behalf. A non-jury trial is now set for January 6.
The rocker was behind the wheel of a 2008 black Lamborghini in the wee hours of June 27 when he was pulled over by a police cruiser for speeding and weaving between the traffic lanes after he was clocked going 60 mph in a 45 mph zone. Smelling alcohol on his breath and hearing slurred speech, officers administered various field sobriety tests and a Breathalyzer, which he promptly failed, after which he was arrested and booked into Clark County Jail on suspicion of DUI.
The singer was released later that morning after posting $2,000 bail and was back on a Sin City stage a few days later with Cheap Trick’s Rick Nielsen promoting Neil’s new solo album of covers, the aptly titled Tattoos & Tequila.
The Crue ringleader hasn’t had a good track record when it comes to driving responsibly. In 1984, he pleaded guilty to DUI and vehicular manslaughter in the death of Hanoi Rocks drummer Nicholas “Razzle” Dingley after he crashed into another car, also injuring two occupants in that vehicle. Neil ended up serving 15 days of a 30-day jail sentence, paid $2.5 million in restitution to the victims and their families and served 200 hours of community service.
Neither Neil nor his lawyer were available to comment on today’s arraignment.
