French rockers Voodoo Angel consisting of lead vocalist Jean-Luc Rumèbe, bassist Jim Red, drummer Thomas Feuga and lead guitarist Christophe Mouynet have unveiled a video for their cover of Mötley Crüe‘s classic song “Wild Side.” Voodoo Angel released their debut album First Spell, via Sleaszy Rider Records back on June 3, 2022. It can be purchased via Sleaszy Rider Records.

Speaking to Sleaze Roxx on November 18, 2022, Rumèbe explained how Voodoo Angel decided to cover Mötley Crüe‘s “Wild Side.” “After the release of three video clips of songs taken from our very first album First Spell, we wanted to make a cover of a song by a band that we love very much and that has left its mark, in an indelible way, the history of sleaze and more broadly of rock… Mötley Crüe!

This idea came up regularly in our discussions, and the 2022 tour of Mötley Crüe decided us to finally realize this tribute to this band that we love so much. We wanted to record “Wild Side” because it represents, in our opinion, the spirit of late ’80s hard rock / sleaze rock with a devastating and original guitar riff, one of the most famous drums groove, and choruses that take off thanks to huge choirs — very ’80s!

We also added our personal touch by opting for arrangements and a production that could be described as “modern hard rock”, proving, if it were still necessary, that this style of music is timeless, and crosses the ages without no rides! We like the idea of lighting songs from a new angle, so as to reveal their hidden aspects.

We also wanted, by posting this video, to give back to our audience for all the support they have given us. The video for “Wake Me When It’s Done” has already reached 260,000 views today!”
