Heavy rockers Warrant paid tribute to late former frontman Jani Lane at a concert in Grand Forks, North Dakota on Friday night.
The group paused before performing “Heaven”, the hit Lane wrote in the late 1980s, and remember the singer, who was found dead on Thursday in a California hotel.
Guitarist Erik Turner tells TMZ.com, “We never thought that when the song Heaven was written we would be playing it someday in the memory of Jani’s untimely death. This is a very sad day for rock ‘n’ roll.”
The tragic star’s former bandmates released a statement on Friday, calling Lane “a very important part of our lives for a long time”.
Lane and his bandmates parted company in 2008.
