H.E.A.T:
Swedish melodic rockers H.E.A.T need no introduction and have just released their sixth studio album H.E.A.T. II last month. H.E.A.T played the Monsters of Rock Cruise last month to rave reviews. In an interview two weeks ago with Sleaze Roxx, H.E.A.T frontman Erik Grönwall explained his stellar live performances as follows: “Well, I really enjoy my time on stage. I try to make the most of that hour or 75 minutes, whatever you have. It’s always a lot of waiting in this business. A lot of travelling and a lot of waiting, and once you’re allowed on stage, I just want to make the most out of it. I enjoy doing it and I want to make sure that people who have spent money to come to your show, they should feel when they’re leaving the show, they should feel that it was worth it. It was money well spent. [Laughs] I just try to put on a good show ’cause I enjoy myself and I just want that too… I want the audience to feel that.”

BlackRain:
French sleaze rockers BlackRain currently consisting of Swan on lead vocals and guitar, Max 2 on lead guitar, Matthieu de la Roche on bass and Frank F on drums date back all the way to 2006.
The band released its latest studio album Dying Breed in September 2019 to which Sleaze Roxx stated in its review: “The first thing that struck me was the cover looked like what a death metal band would come up with but upon closer inspection, it was simply a cartoon version of the band members in skeleton form in a cemetery. I got to say that the cover actually excited me in that I was hoping for a slightly harder sound from BlackRain based on the cover. Eventually, the Dying Breed CD made its way into my CD player and I got to say that the title track for the album sucked me in right away. I have always equated — rightly or wrongly — the rather old sporting anthem “Na Na Hey Key Kiss Him Goodbye” to the mostly French speaking province of Quebec so hearing BlackRain start their title track with the words “Na Na Na Na” seemed very fitting for the French rockers. It works really well and gets you singing along quickly with the upbeat track that lays down the groundwork for what has turned out to be one of my favorite albums of the year. Funny enough, when I first heard the song “Dying Breed” through the group’s lyric video, I wasn’t that enamoured by it but hearing it on CD is a totally different experience.”
Sleaze Roxx concluded in its review: “Overall, BlackRain‘s Dying Breed has turned out to be one of the most pleasant surprises of the year for me. I had very low expectations for Dying Breed but the first few singles / videos got me interested to the point that I purchased the record and it is now one of my sleaze album releases of the year. That being said, I will say that the production isn’t that great on Dying Breed and I can just imagine how much better that the record would be with a more bombastic sound.”

Kickin Valentina:
Atlanta, Georgia, USA based Kickin Valentina seem to have been on a roll ever since new lead vocalist D.K. Revelle joined their line-up. The group released a new EP titled Chaos In Copenhagen in December 2019 and have a number of rock festivals lined up for 2020 including the upcoming Ballroom Blitz in Glen Burnie, Maryland, USA on March 20 and 21, 2020.

Sleaze Roxx stated the following in its review of Kickin Valentina’s live performance at Rocklanta in March 2019: “Kickin Valentina seem to be a regular feature of any substantive Brad Lee Entertainment event so it was no surprise to see Brad Lee introduce the band to the Rocklanta audience. Just like at Sleazy Slimey Sunday 3, Brad Lee‘s wife Angi Krempel was there as well standing in the photographers’ pit and at times with her back to the band like if she was singing to the crowd. Clearly, Mr. and Mrs. Brad Lee really like Kickin Valentina. And really what is there not to like? In the weeks prior, Kickin Valentina drummer Jimmy Berdine had communicated with me via Facebook that “we will come out swingin… that’s a promise.” Well, that’s exactly what they did and now they had a frontman that could really lead the band and connect with the audience. Now don’t get me wrong, I love Joe Edwards‘ voice and even give him a slight edge over Revelle in that department but there was no comparison when it came to their live performances. Revelle is a born frontman covering the whole stage, getting the audience to participate and generally being the social host that a good frontman is supposed to be. The way each singer handled Kickin Valentina‘s trademark song “Get Ready” illustrates the differences between the two in a live setting. At Sleazy Slimey Sunday 3 during “Get Ready”, Edwards tried to get the crowd to repeat some complex screams after him, which didn’t work out too well, while Revelle was able to get the Rocklanta audience to repeatedly scream the easy two words “Get Ready” with great success.”
