Wolf Van Halen warns not playing “Panama” twice after performing song at Taylor Hawkins Tribute

Eddie Van Halen‘s 31 year old son Wolf Van Halen put in another very well received performance, this time at the second Taylor Hawkins Tribute Concert that was held yesterday (on September 27, 2022) at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles, California, USA. The now former Van Halen bassist performed the two David Lee Roth era Van Halen classics “Panama” and “Hot For Teacher” along with Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters frontman, ex-Nirvana drummer) on bass, Justin Hawkins (The Darkness) on lead vocals and Josh Freese on drums.

Wolf Van Halen‘s initial performance at the first Taylor Hawkins Tribute Concert, which was held at the Wembley Stadium in London, UK on September 3, 2022 and where he performed the Van Halen songs “On Fire” and “Hot For Teacher”, was very well received. So much so that Sleaze Roxx penned an article titled Van Halen should reform with Wolfgang Van Halen assuming the guitar duties. Wolf Van Halen apparently didn’t like the suggestion as he responded with an emphatic “no” via social media on his Twitter account.

Perhaps anticipating more suggestions about Van Halen reforming in the future or at least more requests for him to play Van Halen songs in the future, Wolf Van Halen posted the following message as a possible pre-emptive strike on his Facebook account with the caption “*twice 😊” just above it:

“I honor my dad by existing and doing what I do every day. I’m not fuckin’ playing panama for you guys.”

Since his father Eddie Van Halen passed away at the age of 65 after a long battle with throat cancer on October 6, 2020, Wolf Van Halen has released his debut album Mammoth WVH. The record has been well received as evidenced by its #7 finish on the Sleaze Roxx Readers’ Top 20 Albums of 2021. The former Van Halen bassist has also been part of some high profile tours since that time including a number of tour dates opening for Guns N’ Roses.
